Satanic Mills or "Dark satanic mills" is a phrase coined by the poet William Blake to designate the first factories built in the development of the capitalist factory system in the late eighteenth century, being one of the first major expressions and appreciation of working time abstract. Thereafter the pace of work is determined by the rhythm of the machine, making individuals mere parts of its operation in modern goods-producing system. Following this line, the main theme of the work of Lya Alves is alienation, reification and fetishism and their works promote reflections on our system through portraits and visual fables.
When Andy Warhol said " I want to be a machine " , he was representing the mass- alienated individual, objectified , which no longer exists as a persona . " Being Machine " was to admit the dominance of market mechanisms for commercial control over humanity .

Deborah is a woman breaking the patriarchy , and capitalism , subverting the dominant order and assuming the role of protagonist. If the machines are power , she wants to be machine, it wants power . But at what price ?
According to Marx , fetishism is a social relation among people mediated by things . The result is the appearance of a direct relationship between things and not between people . In the industrial revolution , machines have replaced people in factories . Over time, things have greater importance that people. People have come to value more "stuff" than humans out, what philosophy calls the " reification " process. In Marxism , the concept refers to a particular form of alienation characteristic of the capitalist mode of production . Implies the reification of social relations, so that their nature is expressed through relationships between objects of exchange, or " fetishism " , a social relation among people mediated by things . The result is the appearance of a direct relationship between things and not between people . People act like things and stuff like people.
Objectification of man , humanizing things . "Having " is better than "being." Selling the honor . Selling the soul . Selling the body . And with that, increasingly human being loses its value .
A new generation is rising connected with avatars , and technological wonders , and with the values of the new society and disvalues . Alienated from humanity itself . With the law of supply and demand , the merchants of souls always win , but humanity loses .
What is your price? Are you for sale ? As human life worth to you? The amount you give is the amount you have .
Do not sell yourself .

The market society steals dreams and creates illusions, constructing the idea that someone has access to an experience from consuming. The consumer is constantly associated with happiness, or that the person is what consumes. "Having" becomes something very important. This as part of a commodification of people and human relationships.

The reification of man, the trivialization of life, loss of ethical and moral values, reversing the priority of the "stuff" about life. The increasing search for pleasure objectifies man, because this happens to be a tool with a single purpose and ultimate pleasure at any price. But who pays that bill?

The monetary fetish as psychological appeal:
"Studying is important to be able to make more money." - (Nuno Crato, Minister of Education of Portugal) . Barbarism is also teachable. The education minister of Portugal summarized the pedagogy of money fetishism.
Trash as a fetish:
Waste is a human creation, a social construction, cultural, sociological, political garbage is, catharsis and fetishism. Trash is the opposite of order and cleanliness. If you do not want to remember if something "game in the trash," so the garbage exorcises my memories with imaginary powers given by me. Thus, "disgust" we have the trash is not biological Constructing social. From the trash, the privileged sectors of capitalist society are able to resent the trash. And this shows the disgust leaves the boundary demarcated the norm, between what is trash and what is part of the social order.
In the words of Raul Nestor Alvarez :
